Who thinks up the names for OPI nail lacquers?
her name is Suzi Weiss-Fischmann..shes the VP of opi..she and her team travel all over the world to get inspiration for their season colors..which is why a lot of the colors have ';suzi'; in the name..for example, suzi sells sushi by the seashore, suzi says da! crepes suzi-ette, etc.
lol but she also has the rest of the OPI team get together in a big room for hours to just brainstorm names!
:o)

N.y.c - NYC nail polish/lacquer/varnish any good?
is the make n.y.c a good make of nail polish? because i just got some and the colours look good so i was just wondering if its a good or bad make?! THANKS! :DN.y.c - NYC nail polish/lacquer/varnish any good?
hey hon..this answer is coming from a bona fide user of NYC products..as for the nail polish..i agree the colors are AMAZING! and the range is so varied. as long as you do your manicure every 4-5 days you will have absolutely no problem keeping your nails looking great! unless your job requires alot of rough work with your hands..the only minus point is that if you keep the polish for more than 9-10 months it can get kind of clumpy..no worries, just add some polish remover and shake the bottle..i have Starry Silver Glitter, I've had it for more than a year, and whenever i want to use it, i just add some remover to it..other than that the colors stay true and bright..I've bought and loved: Iced Cappuccino, Twilight Beige, Extra Shiny Topcoat, and my latest, Skin Tight Denim!
Hope this helps..have fun..and you can't beat the low low price!N.y.c - NYC nail polish/lacquer/varnish any good?
Yes, the nail color from N.Y.C has worked wonders for my nails. I don't go to spas and get my nails any special treatments so they are just average, nothing over the top. When I bought NYC nail color, it made my nails look like a got to a spa every day! It adds shine, smooth color, and it's not to thick like other companies. I don't enjoy the thick, tough nail colors because they make my nails look like buildings with too much stacked on top.
Plus, it is very affordable and lasts a long time. As long as you apply it properly, you can expect it not the chip when you go out and do common activities. However, I hope you purchased the clear polish along with the colors. If you didn't, you should consider it. It's not expensive, and it should be applied before you put on the actual color nail polish and after the color nail polish has dried. It protects your nails, adds shine, and makes the color last longer.
After you remove the nail polish, remember that nail polish for any length of time will mean your nails and cuticles cannot breathe. You should get a ';nail moisturizer';. It's a small bottle of moisturizer that costs around $5-7. It's thin, and you can choose either clear or nude. This is a soft, supple cream that goes all the way into your nails and cuticles to help them breathe. It is also easily absorbed.
Another great option is a sheer nail powder by NYC. It looks a lot like blush except it has more shades available and it's lighter. You can apply this to give your nails a natural pinkish glow, or a sheer glow of any other color you choose. It says on the directions that you should give it 2 minutes to set, but it really needs about 5 minutes.
NYC is a great nail color company but the brushes provided in their nail polish are not the best for even application. The polish sometimes sticks to them and dries out. The bristles are coarse and stiff. Look online for a better brush. I love the Kabuki Nail Polish Brush and the L'Oreal Soft Nail Polish Brush. They're around $6 for 2 brushes for the Kabuki, and $4 for 2 brushes for the L'Oreal.
yeah. but its a little runny. and the black color is kind of crappy. but it used to be my fave brand! i personally like it (:
It's my absolute favorite nail polish!! Not only is it a good price and color, but it lasts the longest on my toes :-Dsymantic

i know that o.p.i is okay to use is there anymore non toxic brand nail polish?
i use the borghese nail lacquer and i'm just wondering if it is a toxic free nail polish. i hold my breath whenever i put on nail polish so that i wouldn't breath in the smell. thank you for your answers and i appreciate itIs borghese nail lacquer products safe to use?
look in the back of your nailpolish %26amp; see if it has the ingredients toluene or formaldehyde. if you see those words anywehre in ingredients then i suggest you shouldn't use that brand of nail polish because the fumes are not good to breathe in. i know the wet %26amp;wild nailpolish brand are free of those two ingredients. hope i helped (:

Is there a difference between nail polish and nail lacquer?
Nothing. They are both the same thing. Just different names. Is there a difference between nail polish and nail lacquer?
Usually just the price.

OPI Nail Lacquer??!!?
Is it really worth the expensive price (compared to other nail polishes)? Can you get them at like drugstores or Wal-Mart or Target? What colors should I get for this fall and winter (your favorites and suggestions)? I want stylish colors that are in right now and look good in the fall/winter. Thanks :)OPI Nail Lacquer??!!?
it is so not worth the price it chips just like the 1 dollar stuff at walmart do not waste your money!!!OPI Nail Lacquer??!!?
IT WORKS SO WELL.
you can get it anywhere with nail polishes
and try a red, always classic in winter(:
Emerald Green.
And no, you're paying for brand name. Nail polish is nailpolish and lasts 3 days.
It is definitely worth the price!
It's one of the greatest nail polishes ever invented.
Color wise you just have to find one you like but browns and bright reds are hot for fall.
Personally, my policy is if the polish is more than 3 bucks, you're paying too much unless you're buying that holographic stuff.
I got some Sally Hansen in bright bright red it was about $3 and it was amazing! Glided on smoothly, rich color, stayed for quite a long time, especially with a clear coat.
So my answer would be, no, its not worth it (again, unless you're buying that holographic stuff)
To me a great winter colors would be frosty pink (and other frosty, light colors), I tend to stay in the red/pink color range because blue, green and everything else often comes off as juvinile and unnatural. Unless your whole look complements it or if you're going for a funky vibe. For fall, I dunno, deep orange, bronze, all of the colors of the leaves! (Except yellow because nails just shouldn't be yellow).
deep purple
dark red
red
pretty much all dark colors
i use NYC nail polich from target and walmart. they have a wide variety of colors and they don't wear away. they are only like $5 a bottle.
i like light colors, like baby pink and light beige. i also like a few bright colors like neon green and hot pink. but don't worry about what others think. get whatever floats you boat.
i personally don't think they are worth it...i am all for spending a lot at sephora but i buy my nailpolish @ the $ store for $1 and they work great and last - the best part is you can buy about 7 for the price of opi - so yeah i have a lot of nail polish - to say the least:)
No it is not worth the price. Not only does it not stay on any better than others I notice that it also doesn't keep as long as ones that I have had for a lot longer. Don't waste your money!
i had a professional french manicure done using OPI white and baby pink. goddam thing didn't even last 3 days without chipping. and i took very good care of my nails then.

What is a Nail Art Lacquer for?
i dont know? What is a Nail Art Lacquer for?
Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens is what I use. They are for drawing detailed desgins on your nail, not for filling the whole nail with just 1 color as you do with nail polish. They work really well, but the feel of drawing on your nails takes awhile to get used to. If you want to buy some, both Walmart and Walgreens have them, only Walmart is cheaper but doesnt have all the colors, and Walgreens has them all but for a higher price. What is a Nail Art Lacquer for?

Desinger nail lacquer?
Is designer nail polish actually worth it ?is it a big difference from professional nail polish cuz i like zoya and o.p.i, but wondering if its worth the splurge?Desinger nail lacquer?
The really cheap polishes chip a lot easier.
I like o.p.i. too.
You could try a cheaper polish and if you are happy with the results - there you go.Desinger nail lacquer?
I know there is a difference from say drugstore brands compared to o.p.i and esse for example but I don't think the difference between designer and pro would be that much of a difference - at that point, it's in the name. You could try buying a bottle on clearance sometime to see for yourself if it is worth it - like last chance or promos that these designer webs sites or stores might have. Esse is a great polish - never chips, fades, etc. and even Victoria Secret polish is good and reasonably priced. OPI was never that great to me - And I think almost more important than the polish is the base coat and top coat that you use - Poshe makes excellent base and top coats and cuticle oils also. These really keep the polish from chipping. fading, and peeling - manicures and pedicures look fresh for over a month if you can wait that long to change colors. :o)
O.P.I is worth the $ for people who likes to do their nails.
It will not be scratched and fade off easily.
But if you're just doing it for fun and not painting your nails regularly, then don't go for designer nail polish.
I think that it's just the same as any other brand. All you're paying for is the name.
I love o.p.i because with the cheap polish i have to apply more coats...and sometimes it does not have that luster that the more expensive polishes have.

if you have a Sally's beauty supply, check out Finger Paints nail polish - that and China Glaze. Wide range of shades and less $ than d/s prices. I'm pretty sure there is an OPI shade very similar, and OPI is great nailpolish, just the price is higher.symantic

OPI nail lacquer stockists?
I'm looking for two OPI nail lacquer colours that are proving hard to find - Queen of D'Nile and Beige-jing.
Can anyone help? I've tried ebay already.OPI nail lacquer stockists?
If you are in the UK OPI is in Sally 's ( Hairdressing wholesaler )
Otherwise you get it from QVC ( more expensive )
Good luck !!!OPI nail lacquer stockists?
it depends where you are.
There are quite a few salons in the hull / Beverley area that stock OPI nail colours, check local salons they may have stock or knows someone that does. Or maybe ask OPI where the stockists are closest to you.
Good luck
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OPI-NAIL-POLISH-QU鈥?/a>
Not sure where you are based but in London they have these beauty wholesalers, the one I use is called SALLY, they have 1 on Shaftesbury Ave, they have wide range of OPI and I am sure I have seen Queen of D'Nile there before :)
Why not go directly to the OPI website and send them an e-mail.
Perhaps they can tell you who in your area may still have those colors or maybe they will send to you directly (if you ask nicely)
check and see if they have a website that you can special order the colors you like. check with a salon maybe they have an idea where you can get it. good luck!
They could be discontinued. Check the OPI website to see if they still are making that color.
Also, a lot of times colors they discontinue come out again in a different name with a slightly different twist to the color.
Try OVC website as they stock, they are cheaper than the shops also.
While you can't order from their site, they do have a locator on where you can guy it in your area. You can call each location and ask if they carry those colors.
http://www.opi.com/locator.aspx
However, I don't see either of those colors on their site, so they may have been discontinued. Contact Opi and ask to find out.

Edit:
NVMD, they have been discontinued.

Try lookfantastic.com, they do loads of great things and lots of OPI colours and they tend to be a bit cheaper than other places...I have bought from QVC before too but they often do the varnish in sets not in singles.

I would call someone that refinishes furniture. Fingernail polish remover might work without ruining the finish. Don't use acetone. There is always the chance that you will have to have a top finish on the table redone.
goo bew gone n rubbing alchol n soap n water n use a butter nife inside a warm rag 2 scrap off

It's fine.

Why not call the place where you got it, and say- ';I love your work, can I put clear polish on it?';

What is the difference between ';nail polish'; and ';nail lacquer';?
i don't think there's much of a difference except that maybe lacquer stays shinierWhat is the difference between ';nail polish'; and ';nail lacquer';?
Sometimes, nail lacquer is better quality than nail polish, making it more expensive. It is, in many cases, more sheen and comes in more classic colors while nail polish can be metallic, sparkly, etc. and comes in any color imaginable. ';Laquer'; is usually the term used to refer to more upscale brands of nail polish. What is the difference between ';nail polish'; and ';nail lacquer';?
nail polish:
is a cosmetic lacquer that is applied to the nails of both the fingers and toes, usually as ornamentation but also as protection. Most nail polishes are made of nitrocellulose dissolved in a solvent and either left clear or colored with various pigments.
Nail lacquer:
a clear or coloured coating, that dries by solvent evaporation only and that produces a hard, durable finish that can be polished to a very high gloss, and gives the illusion of depth. In a narrower sense, lacquer consists of a resin dissolved in a fast-drying solvent which is a mixture of naphtha, xylene, toluene, and ketones, including acetone.
Give nails colour and shine that won't fade or lose its crystalline luster. In beautiful colours that harmonies with your skin tones to achieve the perfect manicure.
The unique formula allows the lacquer to dry quickly and creates a durable finish that does not easily scratch or peel off, even over time. The lacquer imparts nail care benefits with Macadamia Nut Oil and Vitamin E both preventing nails from drying and becoming brittle.
The formula is exceptionally kind to the nails and is environmentally friendly.
Don't think there is any except lacquer means by definition for a glossier, shiny finish which is what nail polish is in the first place anyway, lol.
It's a matter of geography. They are the same thing. It's called nalil lacquer in the UK.
both you can use in your head
absolutely nothing!
The french and the germans call it nail lacquer, we call it nail polish.

On nail polish bottles, what's the difference between nail enamel and nail lacquer?
Good question. Nail polish, besides being totally sexy, is very much like the paint on our cars. They differ in chemical composition, and its basically the way it dries. Enamel dries from the outside, or ';skins';, then hardens as the drying agent evaporates. It will dry to a slick, glossy finish with good surface preparation. Lacquer dries from the inside, and leaves a dull finish, until its buffed to a high gloss.
You can produce great results with either one, the trick is getting good surface prep first, then paint, and finish with clearcoat. On nail polish bottles, what's the difference between nail enamel and nail lacquer?
the enamel put a harder coat on it and last longer than the lacquer will.it tends to last longer to.On nail polish bottles, what's the difference between nail enamel and nail lacquer?
I think they're the same thing, just different marketing strategies to get you to pay more for the same product.

Can I use my fireplace when theres a nail lacquer next room?
the wall is thick. i heard you cant use it because theres nail lacquer next room, but the good thing is, they are NOT right next to each other. like wall to wall, nope they are not.
is it okay? i really want to use my fireplace! Can I use my fireplace when theres a nail lacquer next room?
If this is in a home, not a business, I'd think it very safe; most people wouldn't even question the situation. If you live next to a nail salon, there might really be a lot of fumes but I'd be more concerned about my lungs in that situation. Do you have any gas appliances? If yes and there's been no explosion, it seems safe. Can I use my fireplace when theres a nail lacquer next room?
Yes, even if you can occasionally smell the lacquer, the concentrations are so small that you won't explode, if that's what you're worried about.
Now, if your eyes are burning from the vapors, and when you set a cold drink down, it sweats acetone (or whatever the solvent is that they use in lacquer) instead of water, then maybe you want to open some windows before striking a match!
